Welcome

The Goethe-Centres are authorised by the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan to teach German language in these cities mentioned above. This portal gives you an overview of the five Goethe-Centres in India and the details of the courses and programs offered by each centre. There are altogether five Goethe-Centres in India, with the Trivandrum centre having its branch in Kochi. These centres have been set-up by the respective German Societies in these cities under a formal agreement with the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan. The courses offered by these centres fully conform to the guidelines and prerequisites laid out by the Goethe-Institut. Similarly, the examinations are conducted in strict adherence to the norms stipulated by the Goethe-Institut. The Goethe-Institut has its headquarters in Munich. Its president is Dr. Klaus-Dieter Lehmann, the General Secretary is Mr. Johannes Ebert. Every year the Goethe-Institut offers scholarships to deserving students from foreign countries to go to Germany and participate in higher levels of German language courses. In India, the institutes are also known as Max Mueller Bhavans in honour of the famous German Indologist Friedrich Max Mueller. In order to expand the reach of the Goethe-Institut, smaller centres named Goethe-Zentrum have been introduced some years ago all around the world.
